my dad gave me his old turntable and receiver..

RCA cables go into the tuner input on a RCA SA-155 amplifier then i send that to my speakers using the headphones output.

if i put the turntable into the phono input it sounds like shit. if i send the signal out thru the RCA speaker output on the amp it sounds like shit.. i feel like it only sounds best when using the incorrect jacks. i really know nothing about this. not even sure what im asking. blah.

"Many of these systems do have an auxiliary input port but the required signal is different than that of a turntable so this turntable has a special circuit that permits connection and operation with a mini-stereo"

this ttable has a built in phono preamp. so no need to connect to phono input on an amplifier as that would be redundant. so using tuner input is correct, phono input is not, any rca input should be fine. not sure what yer saying bout the speakers

do you guys have clean your records regularly, brushes, machines, or whatever? after getting a debut III and using it pretty much as my go-to these days for listening, i'm thinking i aught to splurge a bit on record-care.

i have an audio technica record cleaning brush thing. it does a pretty nice job.
i only use it if a record looks really dusty, or has fingerprints galore on it.

i just use an audioquest microfiber brush to get the dust off. if you have mostly new records and take care of them it should be all you need.

Whenever I get junked 45s that are a handful of decades old I'll clean them with watered down windex before jamming.

whoa. are you serious? recipe for disaster over the long term dude. ammonia will destroy that shit.

the best stuff is watered down isopropyl alcohol like you can get at a drugstore.
